(SANTA BARBARA, 092617) The Journal for Innovation has put together a list of lists gathered from Forbes, TripAdvisor, Booking.com, and U.S. News & World Report to look at the top five-star hotels, restaurants, and spas including world beaches, travel timing deals, spring break destinations, as well as, domestic locations.
Forbes Travel Guide unveiled its 5-star ratings of hotels, restaurants, and spas throughout the world focused on hospitality service. There were 175 five-star hotels, 62 five-star restaurants, and 56 five-star spas among 1,464 winners. An elite group of 11 properties earned Five-Star awards for their hotel, restaurant and spa. These triple Five-Star winners include: Banyan Tree Macau; The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs; The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia; Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego; The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong; Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas; Mandarin Oriental, Macau; Mandarin Oriental, Miami; Montage Laguna Beach; Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island; and Wynn Las Vegas.
WORLD’S BEST BEACHES
TripAdvisor reported its Travelers' Choice awards for global, and U.S. beaches. Siesta Beach was the # 1 U.S. beach based in Siesta Key, Florida moving two spots from last year. Siesta Beach has white sandy beaches with amazing sunsets priced at $214 in September. Baia do Sancho was the # 1 global beach based in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil with an average nearby hotel price of $248 and least expensive in April at $190. Elafonissi Beach was # 9 in global rankings based in Crete, Greece, but had an average nearby hotel price of $65 with March at just $40.
TripAdvisor released its 2017 Hotel Pricing Report revealing value added stays at affordable rates during particular times of the year. Turkey had the lowest nightly rate at $109 among the top 10 tourism destinations, which was a 14% decrease in price compared to last year. Spain had the lowest hotel rate in January at $124, November $150, and December $167. India had the lowest hotel rate in February at $132, March $123, April $107, May $101, June $102, July $107, August $114, September $111, and October $144 among the top 10 highest purchased destinations.
Booking.com released its Spring Break data of travel deals regarding destinations for beaches, nightlife, and culture. The third week of March sees Panama City Beach, Florida as 21% cheaper. The fourth week of March sees Virginia Beach, Virginia 19% cheaper. First week of April sees Santa Cruz, California 31% cheaper. Second week of April sees Tampa, Florida 18% cheaper. Third week of April sees Reno, Nevada 58% cheaper. Fourth week of April sees San Antonio, Texas 13% cheaper.
BEST U.S. STATES & METROPOLITAN CITIES
U.S. News & World Report ranked the best states with Massachusetts picking up # 1 for overall state, Hawaii # 1 for healthcare, Oregon # 1 for infrastructure, Colorado # 1 for economy, Indiana # 1 for government, Massachusetts # 1 for education, Vermont # 1 for crime and corrections, as well as, New Hampshire # 1 for opportunity. U.S. News & World Report also ranked metropolitan cities within the United States focused on affordability, job prospects, as well as, quality of life. Austin, Texas was # 1, Denver, Colorado # 2, and San Jose, California # 3.
